CAMBRIDGE SWIMMING CLUB.

A MEETINC if those interested in forming a Swimming Club was held in the Catholic schoolroom at Cambridge on Wednesday evening. There was a very fair attendance, and the Mayor 'AJr Bach) presided. Mr Hart, who we Icutii is an adept in the art. spoke of the great advantage there would be in having a Club to take the lead in matters pertaining to swimming, and said he should be pleased to render any assistance in his power. He thought they might very easily form a good strong Club ; indeed if all those in the room joined it would make a very respectable beginning. It was then resolved to form a Club, to be named " The Cambridge Amateur Swimming Club," and the following r llieeis were appointed : President : His Worship the Mayor. Vice-presi-dents : Messrs 'J'. Wells, T. YY*. Hicks, J. ft. Bond, R C. Dyer, W. Rout, 11. Kerr, Dr. Perceval and Rev. L. Hudson. Secretary : Mr L. 15. Hart. Managing Committee : Messrs C. Nixon, W. Little, C. Boyee, A. Deverill and J. Langmnir.

All ladies are invited to join as honorary members, gratis. Mr Langmuir kindly voluntcred a prize for the best lady swimmer, and the President offered two prizes, one for adults and tin; other for hoys Mr T. W. Hicks also gives a prize and Mr Sehnta (on behalf of Messrs P, I layman and Co., of Auckland), gave a handsome pair of opera "lassos.

Jt was lesolved to interview the Domini Hoard re permission to hold the spo'ts on the Lake, and also about getting the ladies' bathing hours altered ami the bathing house repaired. Votes of thanks to the Cambiidge Bicycle Club for the use of their room, to the donors of the prizes, and to the Mayor for presiding terminated the proceedings. We trust the Club will have a long and prosperous career.
