CRICKET.
"WAII'A CIUCKKT ASSOCIATION. The adjourned meeting of the Waipa Cricket Association tvas hclil in Mr Laurie's Hotel, Oliaupo, on Tuesday, at ■'! p.m. The following delegates were present :—Messrs Gribble and Manning, Hamilton ; Mr C. L'owden, Tc Awamutu and Kihikihi; Mr S. Rcid, Tnhikaramea ; Messrs Chittenden and Tissiman, Olniupo. Mr Gribble was voted to the chair, and Mr C. Bowden acted as secretary, and read the minutes of last meeting, which were confirmed. The following is the statement of accounts for the last season : Receipts £4 13s 9d, expenditure JL'4 Is .'id, being a credit balance of 9s ud to begin with.
Mr Buxton, who had been secretary to the Association for some considerable time, sent in his resignation, owing to his having left the distiict. The Chairman in his opening remarks said he would like to see a friendly feeling between the various clubs.
Mr Keid said it would be impossible to get a team from Tuhikaratnea this year, as several of the young men had left the district, but after some discussion it was decided that the fuhikarainea men join the To Awamutu Club. Mr Tissiman was appointed secretary and treasurer to the Association.
The subject of subscriptions was left till another meeting, to be held after the first round.
The following fixtures were then made : Saturday, November '27th : Oliaupo v. Hamilton, at Hamilton ; Te Awamutu v. Kihikihi, at Te Awamutu. Saturday, December 4th: Te Awamutu v. Hamilton, at Oliaupo ; Kihikihi v. Oliaupo, at Te Awamutu. Saturday, December 1 Ith : Te Awamutu v. Oliaupo at Olniupo ; all the others stand out. Saturday, December ISth : Kihikihi v. Hamilton, at Oliaupo. The above are the fixtures for the tirst round, after which a meeting will he held to decide upon future engagements. Play in all eases will commence at 11 a.m. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
The match between the Englishmen and the New South Wales representatives, played at Sydney, has resulted in a decisive victory for the visitors. The following are the scores :—New South Wales, lirst innings, 311 runs; English Eleven first innings, 335 runs. New South Wales, second innings. 260 runs. The English Eleven made 237 runs for the loss of two wiekets, and to this Noble contributed 100 and Kangitsinhji, not out, 112.
Cricketers were favoured w ith beautiful weather yesterday for the practice match on Sydney Square. The match, Allcomers v. Hamilton Club, did not eventuate, as the number present did not quite come up to expectations, but a most enjoyable game was played. Some excellent batting was shown by Messrs F. Hunt, T. Crcighton, Oastleton and Manning, On Saturday next a match has been arranged between Shule's employees and the Club team. The following players will battle for the carriage factory : Messrs Meachcm (captain), Slade, Johnstone, Ilope (2), Windsor, Care, Kvans, Peat, King and Speight.
