ANOTHER TRAGEDY.

A i,Ajtounr.it named Charles Clemence, who lived in a side street off Georgestreet, Duncdin, has murdered his wife, and subsequently attempted to commit suicide.

It. was noticed on Monday that the blinds of the bouse were not pulled up. A relative called at the house about sixo'clock in the evening, and failing to get any reply to his knock he burst in the door.

On entering the bedroom he found Mrs Clemence lying on the bed in a pool of blood with her throat cut.

Alongside Clemence was lying with a gash in his throat and also covered with blood.

Two children Mere at the foot of the bed, too frightened to move. Medical assistance was immediately sent for, and Dr. Fulton was soon on the scene. He gave the opinion that the unfortunate woman had been dead for sonic time.

The wound in Clcmence's throat he did not think would prove fatal. The police arrested Clemence and removed him to the hospital. Clemence is about 35 years of age and his wife about 27. It is reported that the couple did not live happily together.

The woman was last seen alive at 8 o'clock on Sunday night. The little daughter said that during the night her father got out of bed, pulled up the blind and cut her mother's throat. He then went to the kitchen and when he came back cut his own throat.

He used a pocket knife. He said after being arrested that if the knife had been long enough he would have killed himself.
