Bekthoot Petition.—The several petitions sent rouud asking the Government to gant a bonus, have been numerously signed, on'y a few refusing to sign on the plea that if the industry ia likely to be of any value it ought to start without Government aid. 'that, of course, is a matter of opinion, and others again say that many of those who have signed the petition showed inconsistency in praying to the Government to graut a concession, while at the same time they would put their sword into the veryheart (politica'ly) of the men they are asking fur help. 1 trust the Government will take a broad view of the question and grant the concession asked for, even though sinners signed tho petition. Taylor's Rob Roy were on view at Tc Aivamutu on Saturday last. Rob Roy, I understand, is a new importation to the district, and looks a big powerful animal. Prince Fergus seems to be still a great favourite with many of the farmers ; he is in prime condition, a big little horse, good barrel, thick set, and not showing too much daylight % under him. Of course, every farmer backs his fancy. It is to be hoped both horses will have a profi-able season.— (Own Correspondent).
