THE BANK RESERVE.
London, September 13. The Times, in commenting on the action of the directors of the Bank of England in having yielded to the suggestion from the United States that the Bank should hold one-fifth of its reserve in silver, says bankers unhesitatingly condemn the weakening of the reserve. It is reported that the change in question is conditional upon France and the United States establishing bimetallism, coupled with the Government guaranteeing the Bank against loss.
