POLAR EXPLORATION.

London, August 17. A pigeon bearing a n.essage from M. Andree, the Swedish tcronaut, who last month left Spitzbergen on a balloon voyage to the North Pole, has been shot by the oaptain of the sealing vessel Aiken between the North Cape of Norway and the Seven Islmds, off the coast of Lapland, near the entrance to the White Sea. The message states that at the time of the despatch of the letter, the balloon had passed the eighty-second degree of latitude, and was making good speed northwards. It bears M.
