FRANCE AND RUSSIA.
* ■mama. THE PBESIDENT'S ANARCHIC BOMB. Paris, August 19. M. Felix Fatjre, President of the French Republic, accompanied by M. Hanotaux, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Admiral Besnard, Minister of Marine, left Paris for St. Petersburg to-day on their promised visit to the Czar. Shortly .after M. Faure had passed along the Boulevard Majenta, leading' from the Place de la Republique, a bomb was exploded under a flowerstall. The incident prominently brought to mind the threat of the Anarchist Goili, when under examination for the assassination of the Spanish Premier, that the next victim of the Anarchists would be M. Faure. M. Faure received ovations in Paris and at Dunkirk. He takes with him an immense number of costly presents for the Czar, including seventyone of the finest pieces of Sevres ware. The police minimise the effect of the bomb thrown in the Boulevard Majenta, and attribute the act to a madman. The director of the Municipal Laboratory, however, declares that it was a dangerous infernal machine, but a slight flaw prevented any great damage from being clone.
