TROUBLE IN INDIA.
THREATENED HOLY WAB. Constantinople, k4fm\2. It is stated that the Sultan has despatched an enroy to India with the object of stirring up the disaffection among the Mohammedan population. London, August 14. It is reported from India that n pamphlet issued by the Ameer of Afghanistan alvocating a Jehad or holy war against unbelievers has been quietly but widely circulated amongst the Pa than and Sepoy troops of the Indian army. It is also stated that the Ameer recently had a conference with the Mollahs, who approved of the Jehad. Reuter's representative states that the Ameer has re-called all his Indian agents, and adds that the impression is increasing that the Ameer is conniving at, if not assisting, the Afghan frontier disturbances. . Calcutta, August 14. Extensive preparations arc being made for suppressing the rising amongst the Mabommedans who recently attocked Shabkadar, near Peshawar. Two reserve brigades of the Indian armj', aggregating 10,000 men, are being concentrated at Rawalpindi, a town containing large cantonments, 19 miles east of Peshawar.
