SUPREME COURT.
(JSY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT). CHRISTOIItTKCH, Last Night. The Supreme Court criminal sessions opened this morning Judge De ni'ton ojngratulated the Grand Jury that the ca'ender was such a light one with one exception, but said there still seemed great facilities given for forging and passing valueless cheques. He referred at some length to the charge of manslaughter against Hilley in connection with the cancer cure case. He said the accused admitted having applied chromic acid to the tumour, it made no difference, that deceased acquisced in the taeatment or that the alleged tumour must ultimately have killed him. There was medical evidence showing that the treatment was quite improper. The case was a peculiar one. He did not think the Jury would have much trouble with the evidence. Michael Ford was found guilty of perjury, and as he had already been in goal three month?, was sentenced to nine mouths' imprisonment.
