(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWX CORRESPONDENT) Auckland, Last Night. Messrs Hunter and Nolan report The market for horses is still dull. The usual number were entered for sale, but were mostly of light description. Heavy draught realised from £9 to £lO los each ; medium ditto, £7 10s to £l4 14s^; light harness, £3 10s to £9 5s ; hacks, £3 to £3 10s. At the Junction Yards on Tuesday, there was a moderate supply of fat cattle, and prices were somewhat lower, cspectionally for insufficiently fatted cattle. Oxen ranged in price from £4 10s to £9, and fat cows from £4 lOs to £5 12s 6d. Dairy cattle, more numerously entered, were dull of sale. Springers realised from £3 to £0 each ; dry cows, £1 10s to £2 15s ; calves, mixed sexes, £2 Os to £2 7s Od each. The average supply of sheep was sent in, and last week’s values were maintained. Wethers fetched 10s 3d to 14s Gd each ; ewes, 9s to 10 s 9d ; mixed sexes, 9s 9d to 11s 9d ; hoggets. Os 9d to Ss 9d. Pigs ; Porkers sold at 13s Cd to 20s ; bacon pics, £2 5s to £2 12s Od. HAWERA MARKETS. The Eomont Farmers’ Union (Limited), report under date—Hawera, July 22ud, 1897 At Stratford on the 10th inst. a good number of stock came forward, mostly cows and heifers in back ward condition, consequently bidding at the hammer was slow, but during the day a fair amount of stock changed hands. The usual fortnightly sale was held at the Glover Road Yards on Wednesday, 21st inst., when the advertised number of stock came forward, consisting chiefly of fat bullocks, cows and forward steers. Although the attendance was large, bidding for most classes of stock was sluggish, with little or no enquiry for beef. We quote—At Stratford : Dairy cows and heifers, £3 15s to £5; 18-months to 2-ycar heifers, El 11s to £2 os ; store cows, £1 7s to £1 19s 6d ; 12 to 15-months steers, £L 17s 6d to £1 14s Cd ; weaners, I2s to 17s Od. At Hawera : Fat bullocks, £4 15s to £5 3s ; forward do., £3 5s to £3 17s Od ; 2 to 21year steers, £2 10s to £2 17s Od ; 12 to 15-months steers, £1 Cs to £1 13s ; heifers in calf, £2 2s 6d to £3 ss.
