The Ecmont Farheks' Union (Limited), report under date—Hawera, July 15th, 1897- —YYe held aur usual monthly sale at Okaiarwa on the Bth inst., when there was a fair muster of stock. Biddine; was fairly brisk and we succeeded in placing most of the stock before leaving the yards. At Manaia, on the 14th, a fair number of cattle were yarded, but tlie reserves in most instances were too high, with the result that little business was done. Property : Dur'mg the week we have sold Mr Norrish's block of dwelling houses and sections at a very satisfactory price, also tkreo sections at Okaiawa from Miss Prosstr to Mr Joll. Leaseholds : FOS leasehold farms we have a good enquiry, and those wishing to lease would do well to send us full particulars. We quote : {Springers, £3 10s to £4 5s ; two-year-old heifers, £2 to £2 15s; yearling heifers, £1 5s to £1 12s. Okaiawa: Dairy cows and heifers, £3 2s Gd to £4 ; store cows, £1 17s to £2 os ; weaners, mixed, lis to 16s Gd. Sheep : Ewes in lamb, from Gs 6d ; pigs, small, 10s to 17s. FROZEN MEAT AND DAIRY PRODUCE. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Auency Company, Ltu., report under date, London, June 12th : Frozen meat : There has beeu a quiet enquiry since the date of our last circular, the incidence of the Derby week as customary having tended to restrict the demand. Canterbury sheep, of best quality and light weight, arc in short supply, and for these values have on the whole been maintained, but for_ heavy descriptions it is difficult to obtain late rates. There is no change to report in Australian, which realise from Is lOd to Is lid per stone of 81b. The lamb market has remained firm and with a good demand prices have ranged from 2s 8d to 3s 4d per stone of 81b, according to weight and quality. The enquiry, however, as in the case of mutton, is chiefly for carcases of light weight and good quality, other descriptions boiug difficult to quit. Frozen beef, more particularly tore-quarters, has met a drag-

ging trade, with the result that prices arc now quoted alls Sd to Is 10d iot fores and 2s 5d to 2s 9d for hinds. W c regret to note the arrival of the lougariro from New Zoaland, with a considerable portion of her cargo in damaged condition. The presence on the market of damaged sheep in any considerable quantity always has a tendency to reduce puces of sound. Today's quotations at Smithficld are :- Prime selected New Zealand mutton, 2s 2d to 2s Id per S'b ; average ditto, _2s to 5s 2d 'Australian mutton, light weights, Is lOd to Is lid ; prime New Zealand lamli, os 2d to 3s 4d ; Australian lamb, 2s lOd to :5s ; Australian beef fores, Is 8d to Is lOd ; Australian beef hinds, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Butter : There has been no demand for Colonial butter, the attention of buyers being entirely directed to Irish and continental sorts, with the result that a largo proportion of recent arrivals have been placed in cold store. Prices generally have ruled easier, but the market closes fairly firm. Quotations for Australian are quite nominal. Cheese : The bulk of recent arrivals per Gothic and Te Koa, have been disposed of at prices ranging from 4Ss to 52s per cwt. for fine to finest.
