KIHIKIHI BAND OF HOPE

A vkky successful meeting of the Kihikihi branch of the Baud of Hope was held in the Presbyterian Church on Friday last. The extremely stormy wet weather prevented there being so large an attendance as usual, but the programme was a good one and was faithfully gone through. The Rev. J. Macdonald, the President, opened the meeting with prayer and a short address, then followed this programme :• llymii ,">72 : dialogue, by Masters Cumpstono and IJryant, Misses Anderson, Thomson, Ashbv and (Jiimpstone ; dialogue, "'Dare to do'Kight," by 13 girls ; song, " Good .Manners," by six little girls; reading, Mr E. Bridgcinan ; hymn 590 J dialogue, " Wise in Time," Misses Martin and Qualtrough. and Mr Bryant junr. ; duct, Misses Shepherd and Moisley ; dialogue, " Chosen .Flowers," by six little girls; reading, Mrs Macdonald ; song, Miss Ross; hymn 17; recitation, Mr Bryant, junr. ; song, by four little girls. All these items were well worth listening to, and eaeli was loudly applauded. Mr Macdonald had a few appropriate words of encouragement for the little performers after each item, and at the close pre posed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Ellis for presiding at the organ, also to Miss Rosa for assisting in getting up the programme, and to all thos; who had taken their parts so well. This was heartily accorded. It was then decided that another meeting be arranged to take place in about two months, when it is to be hoped the weather will be much more favourable. The usual collection was made and the meeting closed after singing hymn 628. Mr and Mrs Macdonald are deserving of much praise for taking such a deep interest in the Kihikihi branch of this splendid society for the young people, and thoir efforts, which must often be made at much persoual inconvenience with such weather and roads as we have now, are very much appreciated by both the children and tli«h' friends.—(Own Correspondent).
