MR WARD AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.

A meeting of the supporters of Mr Ward in the Winton portion of the Awarua electorate was held on Saturday evening, and was attended by between three and four hundred. An address from Mr Ward was read, stating that he p'aced himself unreservedly in the hands cf his constituents, and that if it was their wish that he should contest the seat, his services were at their disposal. A resolution was passed unanimously expressing continued confidence in Mr Ward, and pleasure in accepting his services. A strong central committee was formed to secure the ex-Treasurer's return. The meeting was very enthusiastic. Meetings in other centres are to be held for the same purpose. It is stated that Mr Cuthbert Cowau, who contested the Awarua seat at the general election, is the only Opposition candidate announced and the contest is certain to be confined to him and Mr Ward.
