Auckland, Last Night, A J'onuu meeting was held in the City Council Chanil,er-i this afternoon to appoint a committee to collect subscriptions in aid of the sufl. rers by the Havvkb's Bay Hoods. Mr Pignon, acting-Mayor, occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance. It was resolved to appoint a committee to collect subscriptions, Nahkk, Last Night.
At an inquest held hero on the bodies found floating in the harbour, and identified as John Rose and Harry llrierley, the Jury returned a verdict that " Deceased were, accidentally drowned while bravely attempting to save the lives of others." A rider was added that no ii quest will be necessary if any other bodie* arc found and identified, also that the Government bo recommended to keep a suitable boat at Clive for the use of the residents in case of emergency, and that the residents of Clive bo recommended to form a volunteer brigade to man the boat.
