KARAMU.
Social and Dance.—The social gathering which has become an annual function in our distiict eventuated most successfully on Friday, quite eighty persons being present, including visitors from Whatawhata, Tuhikaramca, and other districts. The schoolroom was most tastefully decorated with ferns, chrysanthemums, etc., the Misses Smith and Bruce being responsible for this part of the prograinir c. Mr 1). Finlaysou presided at the social and introduced Mr Puncs, the Scottish vocalist, whose songs and recitations, given at intervals eluring the evening, were much appreciated. Messrs Boss and Bruce Jones a'so gave a capital exhibition of Scottish step dancing. Mr D. Bruce proved an etlicicnt M.C., Messrs C. Drabble, J. Colder and Bolton kindly furnishing the dar.ee music. Ah customary on such occasions, the ladies of the district provided ample. refresh mi nts, and a most enjoyable evening was spent, dancing being k=pt up until the small hours.—(Own Correspondent).
