A HOOT noon on Saturday, news reached here that a house occupied by two old residents, Mr and Mrs Stockton, was de Stl'jyed by lire. Without hesitation he utshed in and dragged the old lady from the binning bni'ding Mr Stockton's effects were miinsiite 1, so that lie is a loser to the fuel value of all his effects. Gtvat sympathy is expressed for the old couple, which, no doubt, will assume a praelieil form at the hands of the good hear ed Ngaruawuhia people.—(A Correspondent ).
