ANNUAL MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS. „ HAMILTON WEST. The twenty, i ighth annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolroom at 7.30 p.m. There was a luge attendance, Mr Jas. Hume being voted to the chair. The 2Sth annual report thowcrt the annual accounts, which had bten duly audited as follows :—Receipts : To balance from last year, £2l lis (id; grant from Board of Kducatiou, £33 15s ; total, £55 (i< (id. Several improve ments have been made during the year. The large class room has been divid d, ond the Boaid have, at the suggestion of the Committee, granted a stove for the new class room. The number of pupils on Mist March, IS[>7, was 170, as against 198 on the same day iu 1800, a falling off of 17. Mr V. Munro moved the adopt on of the report, seconded by Mr T. Quallrougli, and carried. The cl'cVon of the committee was then ptocftded with, the fo'louing gei tit men accepting nomination, v'z : J. Hume, I'. Munro, Jno. Knox, \V. C. Castlcton, .Ino. Bo'.tley, T. Qualtrough, R. F. Sundc*. Jno. Andrew, I). Salmon, J. Frea-, E. T. D-tvcy. 0. J. Mann, and VV. Woods. Mcsrs'Cox, Hut rick ?nd Jones were appointed as scrutineers, and the voting resulted as follows, there being S 3 \oters : Hume 24, Knox 21, (juulti-ouqh -0, fantlcs 10, Munro 1!), Fiear 10, Mann 11, Salmon 14, liett'ey 13, Castlcton 1-2, Andrew 11, Davey 11, Wood 5. Messrs Salmon and Mann being equal, the Chairman gave his casting vote in favour of Mr Maun, and the first seven wsro declared elected. A vote of thinks to the chair closed the meeting. At a subsequent meeting of the newlyclectcd committee Mr .John Knox proposed Mr James Hume as Chairman, second) d by Mr P. Munro and carried. On the ill'tion of Mr Sandcs, seconded by Mr Mann, Mr Jno. Knox was reelected secretary and treasurer. HAMILTON EAST. Tilt re was only a Email attendence of householders. Mr \V. Dey was voted to the chair and ctlled upon the Secretary to re id the balance-sheet, which was as follows : Kiceip's : Balance in bank, 31st March, 1800, L'3 18s "2d ; grants for ordinary purposes, £25 ; grants for special purposes, £2 2s 31. Total, £3l 0s od. Expenditure : Cleaning sehcol, £l7 5s ; repairs, etc., £2 15s lOd ; advertising, 3s ; stationery, t!5 18s 2d ; balance, £4 lSssd. Total, £3l ossd.
The Cha'rinan reported that the school had been carried on in a most satisfactory manner, to the sotis'actiou of the committee and the Inspectors. The balance-sheet wts adopted. The met ting then proceeded to e'eet a committee for the ensuing year. Only the seven following were nominated and declared elected :—Messrs \V. Dey, H. Tristram, C. Tippin, G. Pearson, 1. Slacle, R. llines and Thomas Chappell. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr W. Dey was elected chairman and Mr H. Trist am sojrefcary and treasurer.
