FIRES.
(UY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT). Auckland, Last Night. At an early hour this morning a tinroomed'house, situated near the Mount Albert store, was burned to the ground. The house was occupied by Mr and Mrs Niblock, who lost all their furniture and narrowly escaped with their lives. No water being available, nothing could be done in the direction of saving either the house or its contents. Mrs W. Ham ley is the owner of the house, which was insured iu the National Office for £3OO. Dunedin, List Night. The premises of Messrs Tarime and Co., chemical manufacturers, of Bondstreet, were coir pletely gutted this morning by fire, which originated through an explosion in the private office which is supposed to have been caused by the effect of the rain on the chemicals. Within three minutes the whole place was in flames. The insurances were :—On the stojk, £IOOO in the New Zealand Company ; building, £503 in the National. Mr Tarime estimates the firm's loss on the stock at £I6OO over the amount of the insurance.
