McCredie and five other residents of Te Kowhia and Karakariki wrote, drawing the attention of the Board to the need of a road deviation through Mr J. Martin's land, and offered to contribute towards the cost. —The Chairman explained that Mr Martin required compensation, and a fair estimate of the cost of the proposed deviation, which extended some 30 chains, including the cost of fencing would be about £36 10s, and even then some of the petitioners would remain unrelieved.—lt was decided that the Board were unable at present to undertake the deviation, but, should occasion arise, would endeavour to open that portion of the road between Martin's gate and the main road at Mr Kelly's.—Another petition from Te Kowhia signed by 14 residents was also to hand requesting the Board to improve the main road between Eraser's bridge and Str.ne's corner.—ln this case the Chairman and Mr Bycroft stated that the difficulty was to obtain a suitable outlet for the water ou the road. In some parts the drain would have to be cut five or six feet deep.—The Chairman was requested to see the place again and obtain, if possible, a better outfall for the road water ; and, in the meantime, about 30 chains of the road be reformed and raised, and all holes filled up, tenders to be immediately called for. BaULIJKEv's Koad. —The Chairman reported that the members deputed to inspect this road recommended that about 80 chains be formed with small drains and outlets at the low places, also a few culverts.—The Board approved of the proposed works and directed the clerk to forward a plan and estimate to the Crown Lauds oflice, re obtaining the thirds due. NIiCKSSAKY Wokk.—Mr Shepherd reported that some small road drains required cleaning out at the southern end of the district, also a few days' work in the main outlet drain.—lie was authorised to have the work done.
