TIIE Library Committee met on Wednesday evening, when the following report and balance-sheet for the past 12 months, as drawn up by the chairman to be submitted to the annual general meeting, was approved : Report.—Your committee have pleasure in being able to submit a satisfactory report for the year 18915. The library has continued to be fairly well supported, the number of subscribers during the year being 83. A good number of these were not regular yearly subscribers but joined for, perhaps, one or two quarters during the years, the number of subscribers remaining at the end of the year being SG. The number of books taken out during the year was 3,256, an increase of nearly 1000 over any previous year. The amount of ordinary subscriptions received during the year was £2B 15* Gd, as compared with £2G Is Gd during the previous year. The total receipts from all sources during the year was £4O lis 9d aud expenditure £37 7s, loiving a credit balance in hand on 3lst December, 1S!)6, of £3 4s ltd, which amount is, however, met by outstanding liabilities. The sum of £7 4s 3d was spent on new Looks, 84 new works having been added to the shelves. The total number of works now in the library is 1,116. A scries of " Penny Heading " meetings, inaugurate'! by your committee and held in the muling-room during the winter season, were successful, both in attendance and financially. The read-ing-room has been kept well supplied with newspapers and magazines, and has been well attended. The amount shown in balance-sheet as expended on new papers and Magazines, is reduced by Magaz ne Club subscriptions, sale of Magaz'iies, papers, etc , to £4 15s 3d, the net cost to the Libraty. Your committee thought it advisable to increase the amount of insurance on the library building and contents from £l5O to £2OO, and this has been done. Your committee again desire to thank all who have been subscribers and supporters during the past year, and solicit a kindly continuance of such support.—Jno I'. Vause, Chairman. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting of subscribers en Friday next, sth February, in the readingroom, when a j;ood attendance is requested.
