PRESENTATION TO MRS BRIGHT.

A vkky pleasing cei\ inony was performed at the (Joints of the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club yesterday afternoon, in a presentation by the members of the Club to Mrs Bright. The grounds, on which the Club Court* are situated, were the property of Mrs Bright, and she lias allowed the (Tub the free use of tl em for some year?. When it was known that Mrs Bright, was about to lea- c the district the members at on-.e decide i to mark their appreciation of her many kir.dnesses to tl em by making I era small promt. The idea was heartily t ken up by all the members, and us we said above the presentation win made yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of members and their friends, and alter full justice had bsen done to the dainty afternoon tea provided by the lady members, Mr Hume made the presentation. In doing so he referred to the great rcgrit wh'cli was felt at Mis Bright leaving the cliitric', :ot only by tl c members of the (Tub, but by many of the townspeople also. He had be.n depute Iby the ( lub to convey to her their thanks for her great kindnccS to them in griuitin; tie n the use of the grounds for so'ong, f e; of charge, and luit 'cr which the Cub could not be ii its iivsjnt prosperous condition. Her (.ener* sity had afforded a healthy and inn anr.ieneat to many and had been the means of bringing many visitors to the plivc. The members of the Club wished that they were in a position to m ike her a more substantial acknowledgement of their apprceittion of her kindness, but lie would ask her to accept the album, not so much on account ot its intrinsic value, as an expression of the goodwill of the membeis towards her. Mis Bright might reckon tint the goaihvi 1 of all tic men hers of the Club would follow I er to the hnd whither she is going, an I he could assure her that th y all wished her prosperity, long life and goo 1 health there. Mr Hume then presented Mrs Bright with an album amid applause. -Mrs Bright was too overcome to respond, and on her behalf Mr George Edgectunbe thanked the members of the C;ub for their handsome present, ami the good wishes expressed towards her by Mr Hume. He said there was no doubt Mrs Blight's aeti n as Mr Hume had said had placed the Club in its present position, but he could assure them tint that lady was amply ro| aid ill teeing her fi lends enjoying themselves. He was sorry Mrs Bright was uot able to thank the members hirself. as no doubt she could do it 1 et'.cr than he, but lie was sure that the feeling whbh prompted the presentation gave Mrs Ih'ght as much pleasure as if the present bad been the most valuable that could lie made. Mv James Bcid then took a series of photographs of the <.' O'.ip n 1 the gathering broke up. The album prcsen'e 1 is a very handsome one of Rotorua and local v ews and was procured through Me3srs Sandes and Co. from Mr Jesuit Martin of Auckland.
