TE RORE.

School Examination.—Tlic annual cxaniitiiition of our school took place on Thursday, :22ml inst., and passed off very successfully, as out of some 3S preson'ed all passed but three, a result which must be exceedingly gratifying to our popular teacher, Mr Fell. Election Matters.—Now, that the Hun. Mr Cadman has declined to stand for the Waika'o seat, it is to be hoped that the Government party will get another candidate to champion their cause, if only to show to the world howweak they are numerically. I have heard several electors express the hope that Mr Lang will not neglect this district when addressing his constituents. Council Elections. The triennial election of councillors, which tikes place on Wednesday, 11th November, is claiming a good deal of attention at present amongst ratepayers in various parts of our Riding, (Mangapiko). Those who are in hopes of seeing some new blood put ir, will be pleased to hear that Mr H. J. Hell, of the Mangapiko end of riding, and Mr Geo. Totty, of this end, have, in response to repeated requests from a Urge number of ratepayers, consented to come forward as candidate?. Uolli arc good men of sound judgment, and if returned will make good members. Social.—The social in aid of funds for the annual school picnic and sports, which took place in the school on Friday evening last, was, notwithstanding indifferent weather, well attended. The sum of t'4 Us fid was taken at the doer, and as the admission was only one shilling and children half-price, this amount must be satisfactory to the committee.—(Own Correspondent)
