CAMBRIDGE BACHELORS' BALL

Ox Wednesday the above much looked-forward-to function took place at the Oddfellows' Hall, which was very aitistically decorated with festoons of bunting extending from wall to will, the place of honor being accorded to the Union .lack, which adorned the upper end of the room. Shortly after eight o'clock the Hall was crowded with tastefully dressed ladies and gentlemen in the sombre attire custom dictates. The so; nc was a most pleasing one, the varied colonis of the ladies' dresses ar.d the beauty of the wearers, gave a charm to the scene which the Last artistic rye must have appreciated. An ancellcit programme of dances and choic; selections of music had been prepared. The performers were Mr T. Hartly, bass viol ; Mr Darker, Ist violin ; Mr Milbiun, from the South, piano. The music was well selected and well performed, and instilled all the necessary spirit into the dancers. Mr M. Roberts, the energetic Secretary, to whom the success of the ball must he largely attributed, performed the duties of ALU. with tact and assidirty, and, as was Ills duty, brought many bashful swains and blushing maidens together to their mutual satisfaction. The refreshment department was entrusted to Mr Boycc, the tables presented a pleasing appearance, and as the viands did not belie their appearance, were irresistable, and met with full justice at the hands of the bachelors and their visitors. Dancing was kept up with v'goitr till daylight when the. company broke njj after an evcnii'g's thorough enjoyment.
