A kkw issues ago wo announced that the Colonial Committee! of the l'Vee Gluueli of Seotluid luul decided to appoint a suitable Minister to Hamilton, paying his passage and guaranteeing a subsidy for three years, so as Lo secure a minimal) stipend of £'2oo a year and a manse. ]>y the last K'g'ish mail, Mr Jan.es Murray, Secretary to the Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, received a letter in this connection from Rev. Milne Rae, Secretary of the Colonial Committee, from which the following is an extract: " On the 'iSth inst. (July) we appointed the Rev. J.M. Mitchell, a Minister of this Church, to your congregation. MiMitchell, who is young, married, and has three children, will be prepared to sail soon, bat I an not prepared to-diiy to give the exact date or the name of his ship. That will be sent shortly. You will Hud Mr Mitchell physically n strong man. He is said by the Minister in Glasgow, with whom he has licen working for some time, to be " a splendid man," with any anion it of go in him. The convener, Dv. Dun", has hoard him pleach and has given the Committee his favourable testimony in that and oilier respects regarding Mr Mitchell. I hope this appointment may encourage you, and be a means of much spiritual good to your :olony. With a'l good wish :s." The members of the church are to be congratulated on securing the services of sucii a man as Mr Mitchell, and they can not but feel thankful to Lord Q.-er-toun, by whom tin necessities of the ongregatiou were brought before the Home authorities.
