Buoyant Raetihi sale
Last week's Raetihi stock sale was "very buoyant" according to Wrightson stock Agent Bernie McGahan. "It was a very, very good sale, well up on what we expected," said Mr McGahan. He said most, if not all vendors went away very happy with the prices fetched. Bidding support came from Taranaki, Waipukarau and locally, including the King Country. He said prices were up on earlier ewe fairs, having jumped $2 to $3 a head. Turn page 2

From page 1 Papahau Station stock fetched the best price, at $19.20 per head for five year-old romney ewes. Other five year olds ranged from $14.00 to $16.00. Six year-old romneys ranged from $10.60 to $14.80 and mixed aged ewes ranged from $14.00 to $16.60. Mr McGahan said stock numbers were up on last year's but only just and the quality of stock was as good if not better than last year's. While the sale last Thursday was the biggest so far for 1989 the February 23 sale is expected to go over in stock numbers, said Mr McGahan.
