MICROLIGHT FLIERS TO CONVERGE ON RAETIHI
Ruapehu region skies will be buzzing with microlights over Waitangi weekend. A 'fly in' is being hosted by the Ruapehu Microlight Club on February 4, 5 and 6 with enthusiasts converging on the Raetihi Ward's Airstrip for the North Island National Microlight Association event. Thirty machines are expected from places such as the Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and Hamilton with fliers from further afield if the weather is kind. Activities planned include spot landing and bombing as well as lots of local flying. Ruapehu club representative Laury Jones told the Bulletin the public will definitely be welcome at the airstrip to look over the flying machines and watch the activities.
