Waiouru subdivision on hold says county
Waiouru's proposed subdivision is on hold because of a lack of response and impending Local Government Reorganisation. County Chief Executive, Max Griffiths says only six prospective residents applied for sections when at the very least 15 were needed to make the project viable. Mr Griffiths says the estimated upfront cost of providing very basic services only was $225,000 and the low response rate to the subdivision proposal
had not given the county the confidence to go ahead with that level of expenditure. The prospect of the County losing Waiouru in the proposed reorganisation of County boundaries had also held the County back from a commitment to the project. Mr Griffiths says the project has not been finally cancelled but it would not go ahead in the meantime until the future became clearer, both in terms of purchaser response and County boundaries.
