Thanks Turoa
May I take this opportunity to thank Turoa Skifields most sincerely for organising the Panda train to Auckland to see the Pandas. It was an experience of a lifetime for our party of 10 which included three nanas, and I know my grandchildren will remember the trip for a long time to come. All except one who went down with measles and mumps the day before the trip. We were especially delighted to watch the expressions on the faces of many other children who, it was very obvious, had never been to Auckland before let alone on a train. A great big thank you to the Snowman who kept c o m i n g through the carriages handing out sweets as well as a big hug and kiss for me (on the whispered instructions of one of my grandsons). He was an added pleasure to the trip and the children loved him, he certainly helped to entertain the children and adults. A big brickbat to one mother who vitually played cards from Auckland to
Ohakune and left her three or four smallish children to look after themselves and they wandered in and out of our carriage at will. We had to bring them in several times as they were standing outside the carriage on the platform between the two carriages and would have only needed to slip and they would have fallen between the carriages. The guard certainly tried to deter them and many other s were doing this and it would have been a tragedy if someone had fallen through. So please, mums, dads and guardians, on any future trips like this, make sure that you keep a close eye on the children. Some of the children were actually opening the side doors as well. I am sorry to end on such a dismal note after such a wonderful trip but I felt that someone should say something and hopefully prevent this happening o n future trips which we hope will continue. Once again a very big thank you Turoa Skifields for giving us the opportunity o f going on the trip and it is nice to know that your firm is interested in our district as a
whole and not just the
skiers.
