WCAC calls for one Waiouru voice

Waiouru's two community committee chairmen clashed at last week's WCAC meeting. Chairman of the Waiouru Community Advisory Committee Colonel Brett Bestic suggested to the WCAC that they invite the Waiouru Area Committee to disband and join with the WCAC, and

form a stronger, more representative committee. Chairman of the Waiouru Area Committee Gordon Mottram strongly objected to the idea, treating the suggestion as an attack on his committee. He said the WCAC had no right to disband another committee. Colonel Bestic said his suggestion was

that the WAC be invited to dissolve itself. After a long discussion and much debate between the two men a motion was put to the meeting to put the invitation to the WAC, which was carried. See page one of the Waimarino Bulletin for a fuller account of the debate.
