Situation : A shallow stationary trough of low pressure lies to the north east of the country. A broad ridge of high pressure over New Zealand should move away to the east about the middle of the week. An active trough of low pressure is expected to pass across the country during Wednesday and Thursday followed by a west to south west airstream. Forecast: Variable winds and fine weather at first. Cloudy north westerlies freshening Tuesday. A change about Wednesday to strong west or south westerlies with occasional showers.
