Rotary Garage sale

To refurbish Rotary funds for charitable purposes Rotary have organised a garage sale for November 26. President Hira Parata has said he hopes the public will get behind Rotary and help it channel funds to worthy project and local organisations.

Donations of goods for sale are sought from the general public and will be picked up by Rotary. Phone Bill Peach 58-326 (evenings) or Ian Penny 54-623 for such donations. These donations will be picked up on Saturday morning November 19. The garage sale will be held at the Ohakune Shopping Centre in Goldfinch Street. There will also be room for five sites for those who wish to set up their own stalls at $20 per stand and those interested should again ring Bill Peach. The Rotary Club of Raetihi/Ohakune has had a very busy time of late. Recently a car rally was arranged and this took all of a Saturday afternoon and evening. Included in the car rally was a project releasing native trees and shrubs which were grown a

few years ago as a Rotary project at the Ruatiti Domain. The trees have made excellent growth and cover about an acre on a bank between two camping areas. The grass was pulled from around the shrubs to give them a better opportunity and also, grass was sprayed. The car rally then moved on to view Santa Gartruda bulls at Harold Windle's, Angus bulls at Hobo Alibaster's, Hereford bulls at Pat O'Neill's before moving out to view Brangus bulls at Ohutu Grazing. The evening culminated at Ohutu Grazing where a very successful barbecue was held at the shearers quarters. A great time was had by all. Rotary also collected in Raetihi for the Blind on a recent club night which is a yearly project. Approximately $800 was donated. The

opportunity was also taken to distribute pamphlets offering to supply and install viewers in doors and also chain locks and supply small purse sirens for emergency situations. A Ladies Night will take place next Wednesday, November 16. Substantial donations have been made to the Blind and the Salvation Army and other local organisations.
