One of the more than 200 teams that ran in Saturday's Around the Mountains Relay was a group of officers from Canberra, Australia. The trip to Waiouru by the Army HQ officers which cost $7000, was paid for by the officers themselves. Accompanying the officers was WO Trevor

Harris who came to Waiouru aiming to run in the ultra section. He ran againts Richard Tout, last year's ultra winner, in the Sydney to Melbourne race. He was forced to withdraw from that race a few days out of Melbourne. He ran 5th in the Australian 4 0 0 milometre race in Perth.
