National teams include Waimarino ski racers

The Mitsubishi New Zealand Ski Teams were announced recently and they include a number of Waimarino racers.

The announcement followed the Kiwi Lager New Zealand National Championships and was made by the New Zealand Ski Association Technical Committee Chairman and Ski Team Manager, Adrian Farnsworth. Raetihi's Chris Mosaed and Ohakune's

Mattias Hubrich remain in the National A Team. The National B Team includes Kerry Jeffries and Benjamin Tidswell of National Park (selection for this team is on the basis of 75100 International FIS points and under 2 0 years, or skiing of a required level for selection).

The new Development Team (racers under 18 with team potential) includes Jacyn Bramley, Dean Drayton, Jeff Drayton and Kim Fuller, all of Ohakune. Sepp Brunner remains as the head coach for New Zealand and Dianne Culver-Gray is the New Zealand Women's coach. When he announced the additions to the New Zealand B Team and the formation of the development squad, M r

Farnsworth said he was delighted at the new and young talent forcing its way into the former ranks. "The great depth of raw talent in this country has become self evident and it will take a lot of time and dedication on our part to mould this talent into future New Zealand Champions in the Sport," said Mr Farnsworth. Plans for the A team and some of the B team

include training at Turoa until October 25. In November the A and B teams leave for Europe for ski racing and training. The four best men and women will go to the World Championships in Vail in the United States later in the Northern ski season. Many of the development team go to North America with coach Russell Thompson for five weeks of technical build-up.
