BLACK POWER MAY BUILD WAIMARINO HOUSES
A Black Power scheme to build low cost houses for Maori families may include Ohakune and Raetihi sites. The houses would be priced at between $35,000 and $45,000. A Wanganui Black Power Chapter, Te Roopu Mangu Kaha, plans to set up a company to build the houses and the Housing Corporation will provide assistance for the families that meet normal loan criteria. The chapter operates under the name Aotea Rangatahi Trust.
