SKI PATROL DEMO DAY
While weather put paid to several events scheduled for the New Zealand Professional Ski Patrol Demonstration Day last week more than 400 people braved rain to watch the proceedings. The highlight of the event was the skifield's temporary resident avalanche rescue dog that raised some eyebrows on the slopes in the week leading up to the day. Special permission was given for the dog to be allowed into the park for the demonstrations. Ruapehu Alpine Lift's annual Master's Race - a speed skiing race for all ages run on handicap, was cancelled and at present there are no plans to try to hold the event at a later date.
