Ruapehu 2nd in skiing

Three of Ruapehu College's skiing teams took part in the North Island Secondary School Skiing c o m p e tition o n September 19 and 20. One hundred and eight schools participated with 537 competitors. The first day was a timed Giant Slalom and the second day was a dual slalom. Ruapehu College A team - Henri Rokstad, Jacyn Bramley, Jeff Drayton, Dean Drayton and Sandrya Dixson - came second with 75 points. Brendan Gammeter, Bruce Lilburn, James Allen, Harvey Chambers and Suzie Shepherd - the B team - were placed 41st, and the C team - Caleb Dempsey, Shane Dempsey, Melanie Shepherd, Scott Wise and Tania Taylor - came 33rd. The winning team, with 77 points, was Kings College from Auckland. Turoa Skifield, Fischer Marker Dynafit and Tait Electronics sponsored the event which was organised by John Laurenson and Lee Anne Kane.
