OHAKUNE MT ROAD WORK

Waimarino councillor Bruce Thompson asked what work was planned for the Ohakune Mountain Road at the last works committee meeting. He said the road surface seemed to be breaking up. District Engineer Don Sattler said patching work had been carried out three times in August. He said on the last occasion a cement stabilization mixture was used on a trial basis. He said the road was in reasonable condition considering the adverse weather conditions and the build-up of traffic. Further summer work on the road Will consist of second-seal coating and overlay coating of some sections. "After that the road should be pot-hole free," said Mr Sattler.
