Call for costs

Councillor Bruce Thompson has called for costs to be worked out on extending the Ohakune Sewerage Systcm to the Ruapehu Road-Tainui Street area. This follows two recent subdivision applications being declined, . primarily due to the lack of sewerage lines. He made the suggestion at the last works meeting. District Manager John Murrihy suggested if sewerage costs were sought then costs o n all services should be sought. "If you put sewerage in and allow people to build then you open it

up to pressure for all the other services," said Mr Murrihy. Cr Thompson said he wasn't suggesting council do the work before development but that costs should be looked at. "If you start extending the zones here on the one hand while you haven't utilized another subdivision on the other, then you are over extended," said M r Murrihy. "Tomorrow we start at Rangataua. I wonder if that was looked at there?" asked Cr Thompson. Mr Murrihy said councillors knew the pressure for services would increase there.
