Taupo boats shore base upgraded
Work is progressing on the second stage of Troutline of N e w Zealand's reception facilities for Taupo Cat passengers at Taupo Harbour. Passengers for the Catamaran are currently being serviced in a temporary reception area at the Rauhoto Street end of the Pier 87 building. Stage two developments will open up the river facing end of the building and link it directly onto the paved Pier 87 forecourt. Development includes a tiled entrance area, a large new reception counter, show windows and a comfortable, heated, new reception lounge. Improved signage and a revamped gate entrance will up-
grade the image o f Troutline of New Zealand's onshore operation in keeping with the quality of its on-lake operation. "We've timed the upgrading of our new reception facilities to be ready for the onset of next season's coach market," said Managing Director, Mr Bill "g"The, reception lounge will feature interesting photographic displays and will open out onto an attractive cobblestone terrace. Once the landscaping is completed and the canvas awnings are hung, Pier 87 will have a definite nautical image. We have an excellent site for Taupo Cat's
boat harbour operation's base and we want to enhance its potential to the full. Hopefully Pier 87 will increasingly become a visitor
attraction in itself, similar to the town side of Taupo boat harbour," he said. The timing of the third stage of Pier 87's
redevelopment, an upstairs complex, which includes the provision of offices above the reception area, has yet to be announced.
