Trees planted

The first of 3000 trces wcre planted at Pipiriki last weekend, in Stagc One of a five year beautification project by Winstones and the Department of Conservation. Only native trees including kowhai, totara and koromiko will be planted in the 15 hectare site along the Whanganui River, as a means to soften the visual impact of the area for river users. Much of the area allocated has been cleared or is already in native bush and the new plants will aid in hiding unsightly areas._
