Crater walk
Winter holiday fun continues at Whakapapa tomorrow with the annual RAL Crater fJake Walk. Following last year's very successful event organised as part of the Centennial celebrations, RAL have decided to make the guided walk an annual occasion, held during the school holidays. "It's not a race, its a leisurely walk to the Crater for all ages," says Scott L e e ,
Marketing Manager for Ruapehu Alpine Lifts. "Last year the oldest was 76 and the youngest was three." Registration for the event is at the RAL Customer Services Office from 8.30am on Saturday, September 3. A donation of $5.00 is payable upon registration, all proceeds go to the Volunteer Ski Patrol. The donation includes lift access to the Top of the Knoll T-Bar, from where the walk begins at Ilam.
