MV Wakapai for sale
Wanganui River passenger vessel, MV Wakapai, may be for sale. Owner, Raetihi resident Winston Oliver says he would be reluctant to sell the boat that he has run from Taumarunui to Wanganui for the past four years, but says he has over-riding commitments to farming. He invested over $100,000 in the venture in 1984 and in past years was able to run up to 20 trips during the November-December season. Recently however, he has been forced to scale down the operation to only seven trips a season.
