Cold Kiwi rally

The Ministry o f Transport and motorcycle enthusiasts are gearing up for this weekend's Cold Kiwi Rally at Waiouru. The rally has become an annual event and is a chance for motorcycle enthusiasts to talk, live and breathe motorcycles. More than 3000 riders are expected to converge near the highest point of the Desert Road, the area designated for the rally, 19 kilometres north of Waiouru. The rally and i t s associated competitions attracts riders from overseas as well as nationally. Just some of the at-

tractions include a burning rubber competition, longest wheelstand and hillclimb. There are also prizes awarded to the largest and smallest bikes in the field, largest motor and most chrome. As in previous years the Ministry of Transport will be bumping up the numbers of officers on duty to cover the event.
