Last Saturday Whakapapa visitors were treated to a sausage sizzle, free Coke, a visit from the Whakapapa Clown and a $5000 fireworks display. These children were more than happy to pose for the Ruapehu '88 camera with the last of the free sparklers, before the big display. The fireworks drew voicifcrous encores from the gallery - the balconies of the many ski club lodges on the field. And on Sunday night at Hot Lava in Ohakune there was a light-show with a difference - clothes from many of Ohakune's ski and fashion shops were modelled in a medley of colour.
