OHAKUNE
While the Ohakune township may have been busy last weekend, Ohakune Police reported a marked downtum in thefts and crime. Police Constable John Fraser attributed the drop to increased police presence in the area. There were virtually no reports of thefts from vehicles or property at Turoa Skifields on either day according to Mr Fraser. One arrest was made, a local man in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle in August. He will be appearing in the Ohakune District Court on September 15 to face charges.
