SATURDAY AUGUST 6 Official opening of Winternational Week. 4.00pm Welcome to all visiting skiers and official guests at Maungarongo Marae, Ohakune. 5.00pm Entrants in the Winternational Parade depart Ohakune Junction for Ohakune town centre. 6.00pm Parade arrives at town centre for official welcome and opening of activities. 6.30pm Fireworks Display Evening Winternational Warmup Hot Lava Nightclub - Ohakune Junction Winternational Teams Race Draw SUNDAY AUGUST 7 12.30pm Winternational Teams Race - Turoa (Easy Giant Slalom format). Teams event open to all. Prize giving at the Alpine Lodge 4.00pm MONDAY AUGUST 8 Race Team Training - Turoa 5.00pm Team Captains meeting, Race H.Q., Clyde Street, Ohakune. 6.00pm Press Conference, at Race H.Q. Evening Midge Marsden and the Giant Killers at Hot Lava Nightclub. TUESDAY AUGUST 9 GIANT SLALOM 9.30am Turoa Skifields. Official opening of BP/Europa FIS Ski Sries by Hon. Peter Tapsell, Minister of Recreation and Sport. Opening to be held at the Race finish area on the skifield. 9.10am Race Course open for inspection by racers. 10.30am Giant Slalom race event starts. Prize giving to be held one hour after racing is completed
5.00pm Team Captains meeting - Race HQ. 6 -7. 00pm Hangi at Maungarongo Marae, Ohakune for ski teams, race officials, VIP's etc. Drawing of race bibs. WEDNESDAY AUGUST 10 2ND DAY OF GIANT SLALOM 9-10. 00am Race Course open for inspection by racers. 10.30am Giant Slalom race event starts (Prize Giving to be held one hour after racing is completed at the Victory Podium). 5.00pm Team Captains meeting - Race HQ 7.00pm International Casino Evening - Hot Lava Nightclub THURSDAY AUGUST 11 SLALOM EVENT 9.10.00am Race Course open for inspection by racers. 10.30am Slalom race event starts (Prize Giving to be held one hour after racing is completed at the Victory Podium). 5.00pm Team Captains Meeting - Race HQ 6.00pm Sponsors function - Cocktail Party at Ohakune Club FRIDAY AUGUST 12 SLALOM EVENT 9-10. 00am Race Course open for inspection by racers. 10.30am Slalom race event starts (Prize Giving to be held one hour after racing is completed at the Victory Podium). Evening Victory Dance at Ohakune Primary School Hall 8.00pm Live entertainment Winternational wind up - Hot Lava Nightclub. Live entertainment - Dave McArtney and the Silver Surfers
