WATER WASTE DETECTION TEAM ON THE JOB

Waimarino District Council staff have met with councillor Bruce Thompson and a number of residenfis to discuss possible water waste sites in Ohakune. Cr Thompson suggested to the council at the last meeting that a $6500 leak deteciion programme be deferred until a survey of possible water wastage was made. From the examples given at the meeting with the staff on Tuesday night there wouldn't have to be many cases to have a major impact on the total water consumption for the town, said District Manager John Murrihy. There were possibly carrot washers who were leaving water running all night.
