Plunket holds 69th annual general meeting

The Waimarino branch fo the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society Inc recently held its 69th Annual General Meeting at the Lions Den i n Ohakune. Branch President's renort-

"Our tha-nks once again go to the Women's Division of Federated Farmers who continue to supply us with the handknitted woollen singlets which are sti.ll delivered t o new babies born in the area.

Thanks too, to Beth Lilburn who knitted an extra 60 singlets when the original supply was temporarily exhausted. This year has been a busy one for Plunket nationally, with the future of Plunket not in doubt, but possibly in line for a few changes." -Rachel Fraser Plunket Nurse's report: "The birthrate for the

Waimarino area is the highest for at least the last five years which has resulted in a correspondingly high number of new cases and babies under supervision. One major cause of accidents this year has been bums and scalds. I am concerned about the large number of homes in the area without ade-

quate fireguards, particularly in this climate with fires burning for a large part of the year." -Carole Harford Raetihi Sub-Branch President's report: As president, I must say that I am concerned that too few Plunket mothers are actively supporting us while many are either unaware or have priorities elsewhere. To the new committee, I wish you well for the coming year. 1 hope you will find, as I

have, that though the job is a challenge, you can look back with a sense of satisfaction and know that you have done your part in keeping such a worthy organisation alive in the Waimarino." -Rosemary Briggs The new branch officers elected for the ensuing year were Natalie Odey of Ohakune (president), Tracey Berry of Raetihi (secretary) and Diane Lyne of Ohakune (treasurer).
