Waimarino District Councillor Bruce Thompson has persuaded the council to hold off spending $6500 on a leak detection programme for the Ohakune water supply until he has consulted a number of residents he believcs may have the answer to Ohakune's high water consumption. Earlier the council's works and reserves committee decided to implement the leak detection programme because the town's water consumption is thought to be two to three times the average.
