Winning wine tasters
Waimarino Wine Club tasters showed good form at their annual wine challenge on j July 23. Despite t o u g h t competition from Taupo j the Waimarino Number One Team took the coveted "Slab" trophy. This means Taupo and Waimarino have held the trophy eight times each. Also up for the taste bud taking was "The Wine Slide". Six teams of four competed for this trophy, from Auckland, T aupo , Tokoroa and three from the Waimarino. "The Auckland Professionals" took the prize with the Waimarino Challenge Team placed second. Teams answered questions on eight wines - four red and four white
from Australia, France and New Zealand. Captain o f Waimarino's winning team Di Pritt said all members performed extremely well in the face of stiff competition. Andrew Cornwall, Judy Doyle.and Barrie Boyle were the other three Waimarino tasters.
